Alcohol ban on walking day

POLICE will be taking a zero tolerance attitude to Walking Day trouble makers and are banning alcohol during the event.
Officers are warning they will deal with anyone looking to cause trouble at Padgate Walking Day in June “promptly and effectively”.
They have also agreed a ban on the sale of alcohol with licensed premises between 5pm and 7pm on the day, as they want revellers to make the most of this “break”
A spokesperson for the Warrington East Neighbourhood Police team said: “We are keen to make sure that alcohol is consumed responsibly and this ‘break’ in the afternoon showed benefits last year when the event took place. Those persons who think the event is there purely as an excuse to get drunk and cause disruptive behaviour will be dealt with promptly and effectively.”
The event takes place on Saturday, June 21, with extra police on duty for the day.
