Police probe arson attack on house

0

A POLICE investigation has been launched after the latest in a series of attacks on a row of houses near the town centre.
Arsonists pushed burning paper through the letter box of a house in Winifred Street, off Orford Lane starting a fire inside.
A smoke alarm aroused the family – two adults and an 11-year-old boy – and they escaped through the back door before firefighters could reach the scene. No-one was hurt and damage was only minor.
It was the latest in a series of attacks on houses in Winifred Street in recent months. The same house had a rear window put through the previous night and other houses in the road have had windows smashed, attempted arson attacks and tyres slashed on their cars.
Police had already set up CCTV cameras in the area and are hoping they will reveal who was responsible for the latest incident.
Anyone who has information about any of the incidents is asked to call police on 0845 458 0000.
