Armed raiders target security van

THREE armed raiders made off with a cash box after targeting a security van – putting a woman guard in hospital in the process.
The victim was punched, kicked and sprayed in the face with petrol by the men, who were then joined by a fourth man as they made their getaway in a silver Mercedes.
One of the men was carrying a firearm when the ambush took place this morning (Wednesday) at approximately 10am at the Macdonald Lymm Hotel in Whitbarrow Road, Lymm.
The three raiders had originally arrived in a van, which was set on fire as they left the scene in the silver car, driving along Statham Avenue towards Warrington.
The men were all dressed in black, with one of the men considerably bigger in build than the others.
Police have not said how much money they got away with, but the empty cash box was found discarded later by officers.
Anyone with any information about the incident should contact DC Gordon Wilson at the Warrington Specialist Investigation Unit on 0845 458 0000, or alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
