POLICE are hunting a lone gunman who threatened a female member of staff at a petrol station in Warrington.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, brandished a black pistol at the kiosk window of the petrol station at the junction of Warrington Road and the East Lancashire Road, Glazebury.
He had already purchased a packet of cigarettes and didn’t say anything to the woman duty when he produced the weapon.
He had originally driven into the station in a silver car and drove off in the same vehicle down the East Lancs road towards Manchester when the member of staff ran into a rear room on seeing the pistol.
Officers are describing the man as around five foot, six inches in height, with a weathered face and ruddy complexion.
They also say he was wearing a woolly hat and a three-quarter length black coat at the time.
Anyone with any information about the incident, which took place at approximately 2am on Friday (May 8) is urged to contact DC Alex Reeves at the Warrington Specialist Investigation Unit on 01244 613 831, or alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
