Traffic blackspot to be improved

WORK will start later this month on work designed to improve a notorious traffic blackspot.
The project will involve road widening and the construction of a bus lay-by on Cromwell Avenue, Westbrook and remedial work associated with the adjacent traffic signal controlled junction.
Traffic restrictions will apply during the operation which is due to start on Tuesday May 27 and is expected to continue for eight weeks.
The temporary order will mean that vehicles in Cromwell Avenue will not be able to make a right turn into Ladywood Road, or a left turn into Westbrook Crescent (southern junction).
The western footway on Cromwell Avenue, from its junction with Twenty Acre Road (northern junction) to its junction with Westbrook Crescent (southern junction) will be temporarily closed.
Alternative routes for the prohibition of right turn will be via Cromwell Avenue (northbound), Cromwell Avenue/Westbrook Way roundabout. Cromwell Avenue (southbound).
Alternative routes for the prohibition of left turn will be via Cromwell Avenue (northbound), Cromwell Avenue/ Westbrook way roundabout, Cromwell Avenue (southbound).
During the footpath closure there will be a diversion via the eastern footway of Cromwell Avenue (western footway).
