SUPPORT and care services for adults with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in Warrington will in future be carried out by a single provider, Town Hall bosses have decided.
Members of the executive board have awarded a tender for providing the service to Manchester-based Creative Support Ltd.
Currently, Acquired Brain Injury services are purchased on an individual basis from a number of different providers.
But because of the number of hours purchases, the fact that varying rates are charged and because the need for ABI services in Warrington has increased, council officers have decided it will be more cost effective to have a block contracting arrangement with one provider.
The new arrangements will also ensure that care is available at short notice.
Care will be purchased on an individual basis but the value of the contract is likely to be more than £500,000-a-year.
Creative Care Ltd were selected from a shortlist of three chosen from eight organisations who originally returned tender documents.
A report to the executive board indicated that the company demonstrated a more significant understanding and experience of ABI services provision and were clearer in identifying Warrington’s needs.
