A PLANNING inspector has dismissed an appeal by a householder who wanted to extend his home because of the potential impact on the living conditions of a neighbour.
He ruled that the proposed garage conversion, with bays to the front and a two storey extension at the rear in Milton Close, Culcheth, would harm living conditions next door because of it “oppressiveness and overshadowing.”
The applicant’s need for extra space and the presence of other nearby developments said to be similar did not outweigh the need to prevent harm to neighbours, he said.
Originally Warrington Borough Council’s development control committee had refused planning consent for the scheme on similar grounds.
