Green belt care home approved

PLANS to build a two-storey care home on green belt land have been given the go-ahead by Warrington planners – despite strong local objections.
More than 20 local residents, Lymm Parish Council and local borough councillor Sheila Woodyatt had opposed the scheme.
But the borough’s development control committee decided that the scheme at Red Cott Farm, in Booths Hill Road, Lymm was mainly on “brownfield” – the site of the former farmhouse – and that green belt land would only be used for landscaping and gardens.
Objections were based on the use of green belt land, inadequate parking provisions, a devaluation in the surrounding properties and a lack of local demand for a care home.
Planners pointed out there was a significant distance between the proposed home and the nearest dwellings.
