Local charity to be on TV

A PROJECT run by a Warrington-based charity is to be the main feature in a Granada Television production.
The Talk…Don’t Walk Campaign, run by The Relationship Centre, which helps to stop young runaways leaving home and helps support their families, will be the main focus for the half-hour documentary.
TV crews are working closely with the charity at the moment, along with Warrington South MP Helen Southworth, patron of the charity Ray Winstone and representatives from Cheshire Police and Everton FC.
It will highlight the work the charity is doing in schools via curriculum based school packs that teach pupils the dangers of running away from home.
Spokesperson for the Talk…Don’t Walk Campaign, Marissa Hankinson, said: “It is great that the issue of running away is gaining more and more attention both at a local, regional and national level.
“This documentary alongside the support of our local MP, Helen Southworth and the work of the coalition in campaigning has really helped to make a difference.
“Raising awareness that help is available to young people is very important as the dangers of running away can result in involvement in crime, drugs, alcohol, homelessness and even child prostitution.”
