A 31-year-old man died in the horrific crash on the M6 at Croft, near Warrington which
last night brought chaos to Warrington’s roads.
A 21-year-old man was also taken to Warrington Hospital and a 65-year-old woman was airlifted
to Wythenshawe Hospital following the four-vehicle pile-up.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the crash which closed the southbound carriageway of
the motorway for several hours and the northbound carriageway for a lesser period.
Links to the M62 were also closed for a time.
The result was chaos for motorists during the rush hour in Warrington.
Thousands of people were late home from work. A meeting of Warrington Borough Council started
with little more than half the members present and some councillors were more than an hour
late arriving.
Anyone who can help police is asked to call PC Jordan of the Motorway Unit on 0845 458 0000.
