Mental health trust's deep clean

THE 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust – the organisation responsible for mental health care in Warrington – has completed the biggest cleaning exercise ever seen by the organisation.

The Trust’s ‘Deep Clean’ programme was successfully completed before the national deadline.

During the three-month operation, an extensive cleaning and repairs checklist was rigorously followed. This involved steam cleaning curtains, blinds, bathroom fittings, walls and ceilings, as well as thorough cleaning of all bedding, furniture, windows, partitions, radiators, kitchen appliances, other equipment and fittings.

The process, conducted across all five boroughs served by the Trust, covered inpatient and outpatient areas on 23 wards, in addition to 11 day units and 15 clinics and general patient areas.

Chief executive Simon Barber said: “We are delighted to have achieved this target. As a Trust we take the issue of infection control seriously and meeting the Government‘s standard clearly demonstrates the effectiveness and dedication of our Estates and Facilities Management team.

“We realise however that this is an ongoing issue and we are determined to continue with a rigorous cleaning programme, as well as encouraging staff and visitors to clean their hands before entering hospital wards.”
