Youth club makes history

WARRINGTON Youth Club has received a National Lottery grant for more than £14,000 to compile a history of the town.
Under the “Memories Are Made of This” programme, the £14,700 Heritage Lottery grant will be used to capture and preserve memories of being young in Warrington from the time of the Second World War, up to the 1990s.
The youth club is now looking to recruit volunteers aged 13 and upwards to take part in the project and learn more about Warrington’s rich heritage.
All young volunteers will be interviewing and recording memories themselves when the project gets under way next month.
Warrington Museum will eventually display the memories and materials once the scheme, which is free to all volunteers, is complete.
Practice manager at the club, Bev Lloyd-Madeley said: “This project is a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn new skills and understand what it is like to be young in Warrington, both past and present. It will equip young people with a better, more informed understanding of their heritage.”
