Langer shines in

Wolves’ 11 try romp!

by Gary Skentelbery

AUSSIE ace Allan Langer looked none the worse from his nine month lay off as his superb ball handling skills saw Warrington rout St Esteve in an 11 try romp.
It took the Wolves less than two minutes to score as Toa Kohe-Love went on a spellbinding 80 metre run, side-stepping four would-be tacklers on his way to the line.
Once second-rower Ian Knott had crossed after 18 minutes it was nearly all one way traffic with further tries from Lee Briers, twice after 25 and 38 minutes and David Highton on the stroke of half-time to make it 0-26 at the interval.
The second half started with another 80 metre special, this time from Allan Hunte.
St Esteve rallied with a try from Van Brussell after 48 minutes. Tawera Nikau responded for the Wolves but the French got their second try minutes later from Charmon.
It was all one way traffic from then on as Neil Parsley (57), Danny Nutley (60), Andrew Gee (65) and Ian Sibbett (78) added further tries for the Wolves.
Lee Briers (3) and Jon Roper (6) weighed in with the goals.
The only set back was a broken nose for new signing Jerome Guisett, who was injured after just three minutes on the field.
After the match Coach Darryl van de Velde said: “It was a good work out for us but there are several areas we have got to work on and get better. But overall I was very pleased with the performance.
About 130 Warrington fans made the trip to cheer on their heroes in a crowd of just over 2,000.
