WARRINGTON Town continued their pre-season build up with an impressive 2-0 victory over the youngsters of Bury FC at Cantilever Park.
Town dominated the first half and should have made more of their many chances with striker Jimmy McCarthy at the heart of numerous opportunities.
It was McCarthy who eventually broke the deadlock finishing off a scrambled effort after good build up play in the 72nd minute.
More good build up play resulted in the second goal when substitute Richard Chetcuti (pictured right) sweetly volleyed home from 12 yards out int he 80th minute.
The visitors caused few problems for Town keeper Richie Mottram who was a near bystander for much of the game with a solid back four in front of him.
Manager Joey Dunn was pleased with the overall performance, particularly the work rate of new signing Duncan Kinsey, the son of former Warrington Town legend Ian Kinsey, a star of the team that got to Wembley in the FA Vase Final in the late 1980’s.
Now Town face a pioneering trip to Belfast next weekend, when they will take on Crewe United of Lisburn, for the Peace Cup.
During the visit they will be special guests of Linfield who take on Stockport County in a pre-season friendly, with Town taking on United in the evening, kick off 7pm.
Mayor of Warrington Brian Axcell will be joining the party with his Mayoress wife Irina.
The following Tuesday Warrington face their biggest pre-season test when they entertain Witton Albion, who were relegated from the Unibond premier last season to the Southern section. Kick off 7.45pm.
