WARRINGTON Wolves’ Kiwi prop Paul Rauhihi has signed a new one year deal that will keep him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of 2009.
The 35-year-old international, signed from North Queensland Cowboys in 2005, has been in sparkling form this season, not missing a single game for the Wolves.
Rumours were abound that Rauhihi was considering retirement, however, Head Coach James Lowes is delighted he has decided to stay on board for next season: “Rauhihi has had a good season for us this year. Playing every game speaks for it’s self. It’s good to keep that consistency.”
Rauhihi was ironically injured in Sunday’s defeat by Hull KR and is a doubt for the trip to Castleford on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile the Wolves trio of youngsters, Chris Riley, Steve Pickersgill and Mike Cooper have had one year options taken up on their contracts that will see them through to the end of 2009.
“The younger members of the squad have stood up to be counted this season and fully deserve their place in the squad for 2009,” said Lowes.
