DESCRIBED as the biggest community event of the year the annual Grappenhall Walking Day event was blessed with glorious sunshine.

Church members from St Wilfrid’s, local school children and various uniformed organisations from around Grappenhall took part in the annual Walk of Witness.

Walkers walked back to the school field to enjoy the Summer Fair.
Another essential element to the day was the crowning of the new Rose Queen, Village Prince and new Rose Bud.
Chosen from children in the parish the retiring incumbents and the newly chosen ones walk in procession with a crowning ceremony taking place at the Summer Fair on the school field.
Emily Cross was crowned Rose Queen while Hannah Kyme was crowned Rose Bud.
