Emily bags a return to the Wire

WARRINGTON Wolves’ head coach Armani Sharrock has announced the permanent re-signing of Emily Baggaley after a successful two-week loan period from St Helens.

The second row forward, who scored a try in the Wire’s win over Featherstone at the weekend, is now looking to get more game time after struggling to break into the Saints’ first team plans.
The 24-year-old Wiganer was snapped up by the current Challenge Cup holders in January after her performances in a Warrington shirt earned her a call-up to the England Knights’ Performance Squad.

Emily, who will wear the number 35 shirt for the rest of the season, said: “I’m buzzing to be back with the girls and it feels like I haven’t been away.
“Armani coached me at Wigan St Pats and I’ve always rated her. I’m looking to learn more from her and I’m really happy to be back.
“I’ve played a couple of games on loan and really enjoyed it.”
Emily’s season was cut short in 2023 when she suffered a serious knee injury against York Valkyrie at the Summer Bash and she admitted it was a huge setback for her.

She said: “It had a real knock on mentally because I just wanted to play. I had just been called up the Knights squad and it was a huge disappointment to miss out on that and playing in the Lancashire Yorkshire Origin game too.”
Head coach Sharrock said: “We are really excited to have Emily back permanently at the Wire.
“She is a great player and one I was really keen to have back in primrose and blue.
“Having her back here, initially on loan from Saints, confirmed everything I know of her as a player so to be able to bring her back permanently is fantastic for the group.
“This signing is an indication that we are hitting the goals we set this year in term sof the environment and standards and Emily coming back and choosing to stay with us confirms we are moving in the right direction.”

With the Wire having a break from Super League action this weekend, Emily will be representing Lancashire in the Origin game against Yorkshire at the Flair Stadium, Dewsbury, on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
