Drivers warned to plan ahead following three serious incidents on the M62 near Warrington

DRIVERS are being warned to plan ahead this morning following three incidents on the M62 near Warrington, including a lorry fire near Burtonwood and a serious collision involving a vehicle fire at Woolston.

An ongoing closure is required on the M62 eastbound between junction 7 and 8 to carry out some resurfacing work caused by the lorry fire.
Drivers can exit at J7 and travel east on the A57, at Lingley Green travel north to re-join M62 at J8.
National Highways staff are currently working along the eastbound M62 between junction 7 and 8 to resurface the carriageway across several lanes and repair safety barriers following the extended lorry fire last night. This work is unlikely to be completed for most of the day. While a signed diversion from junction 7 remains in place, drivers heading eastbound beyond the area are advised to seek alternative motorway routes.

Meanwhile, On the M62 eastbound at Woolston, junction 10 is closed due to a serious collision and a vehicle on fire. Emergency services attending the scene are carrying out a full police investigation.
Drivers can exit the M62 at J10 and travel south on the M6 to J21, turn right and at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit and travel north on Woolston Grange Avenue. Turn right onto the A574 Birchwood Way and follow eastbound to re-join the M62 at J11.
All drivers should plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

In another incident, during the early hours of this morning, three fire crews attended a road traffic collision on the M62 east, between junctions 11 and 10 near the Croft interchange.
The incident involved two heavy goods vehicles and the crews worked to release one casualty. All lanes were closed while the incident was dealt with. Cheshire Police and paramedics also attended.
